MACRAO Committee Charters

Admissions and Recruitment Committee

  • Promotes and supports the in-service training and professional development of MACRAO members on relevant issues, projects and activities.
  • Promotes communication between secondary schools and higher education institutions in Michigan.
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate.
  • Supports and helps implement the Mentorship Program.
  • Prepares the College-Bound Students checklist for secondary school counselors.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals.

College Articulation Committee

  • Promotes communication and articulation between postsecondary educational institutions.
  • Promotes the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) & other statewide initiatives such as the Michigan Transfer Network and statewide pathways in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Sponsors articulation workshops.
  • Develops, promotes, and executes an annual event in conjunction with the Registrars Practices committee by setting budget, theme, propagating articulation related workshops, serving as liaisons to CAC presenters, meeting sites, caterers, speakers, and other service providers. 
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate
  • Serves as liaison and a resource on transfer issues to education, government and community at large.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals 

 Conference Planning Committee

  • Develops, promotes, and executes the annual conference by serving as liaisons to meeting sites, exhibitors, caterers, speakers’ bureaus, and other service providers.
  • Provides clerical assistance and budget management as directed by the board of directors.
  • Manages all arrangements for the annual conference.
  • Arranges for guest speakers and AACRAO representation.
  • Establishes content regarding annual conference information on the MACRAO website and newsletters.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals.

 Enrollment Management Committee

  • Develops and promotes best practices in recruitment and retention, emphasizing strategic enrollment management functions at institutions of higher education.
  • Promotes an understanding of the institutional enrollment management concept.
  • Develops and promotes best practices to predict outcomes and assess results.
  • Serves as a resource on research, models and systems to help institutions achieve their enrollment and retention goals.
  • Maintains and publishes the Michigan Uniform Guest Application.
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals. 

 Equity in Education Committee

  • Promotes equitable opportunities within higher education for marginalized populations.
  • Provides the Equity in Education recognition award in Michigan colleges and universities for outstanding programs.
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals. 

 Legislative Issues Committee

  • Keeps the membership informed about legislative issues impacting higher education through the use of the MACRAO Newsletter and website.
  • Sponsors events related to current issues.
  • Serves as liaison to the AACRAO Federal/External Relations staff.
  • Educates and encourages participation in state and federal discussions and debates related to higher education issues.
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals. 

 Registrars' Practices Committee

  • Undertakes projects concerned with improved registration techniques, grading policies and practices, and the maintenance of adequate and accurate records; suggests procedures for quality in production of transcripts and establishes standards for all areas of academic records management (security, storage, retention, retrieval, generation, recording and maintenance).
  • Sponsors events related to current issues as appropriate.
  • Develops, promotes, and executes an annual event in conjunction with the College Articulation Committee by setting budget, theme, propagating articulation related workshops, serving as liaisons to RP presenters, meeting sites, caterers, speakers, and other service providers. 
  • Maintains and publishes the “What is an Official Transcript” brochure.
  • Maintains and publishes the “Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Guidelines for Michigan Colleges and Universities” brochure.
  • Coordinates approved annual conference session proposals.
