MACRAO Summer Summit 2020

Monday through Friday
June 15-19

We're very excited to announce that this year's MACRAO Summer Summit is still going to happen... but it's going to be a virtual conference, and it's going to last a whole week!

As we all continue to deal with the changes to our work lives brought about by the COVID-19 situation, the College Articulation and Registrars' Practices committees felt it was important to still host a version of the Summer Summit this year. The solution we've decided on is to expand the Summer Summit over five days and offer a selection of the sessions that we would have had if we had met in person at Davenport University in Grand Rapids but in an online, virtual format.

So the 2020 Summer Summit will begin on Monday, June 15 and continue throughout the week until Friday, June 19. Sessions will take place at 9:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. each day. You're invited to participate in one, several, or all of the sessions that interest you. Details on online meeting platforms will be coming soon.

There will be no cost to participants for this virtual MACRAO Summer Summit. The association has decided, with limited budgets at many of our member institutions, to waive any registration fees for this year's event.

Confirmed topics and presenters include:

  • Monday, June 15: MACRAO President Colleen Kibin; updates from MASU, MCCA, and MICU; legislative updates from MASU and MCCA.
  • Tuesday, June 16: COVID-19 pass/fail and AP/IB; lunchtime TED-style talks; transfer best practices with Matt Zeig, Colleen Kibin, and David Johnson.
  • Wednesday, June 17: MITransfer and the MTN with Katie Giardello; lunchtime TED-style talks; FERPA 201.
  • Thursday, June 18: MVAA veterans affairs with Sarah Mellon; lunchtime TED-style talks; COVID-19 future planning.
  • Friday, June 19: Preferred name and gender identity with Brad Maki; lunchtime keynote presenter and closing session.

We'll have complete details available shortly. Each event will be listed on the calendar shown in the sidebar on MACRAO.org along with the details on how to connect and join the session.

We hope to "see" you there!
