Do you allow students to pre-register up to a predetermined date without any payment? If yes, what is your process, deadline dates, etc.)
| Montcalm Community College | We allow eight business days deferment up to a certain date (about eight business days before registration ends); after that payment is required at registration. |
| Henry Ford Community College | Payment due dates are set out from the registration date 3 months to 3 weeks depending on when the semester starts. The closer to the beginning of the semester, the quicker the payment due date comes up. The week before the semester starts the payment due date is the end of the next day. |
| Northwestern Michigan College | Yes, until two weeks before the regular, 15-week session begins. |
| Monroe Community College | We have an advance
registration preceding each semester and a tuition payment deadline. Students not paid by the deadline are canceled and the seats opened up for other students. After the deadline, we require payment the day of registration or the next, or we cancel. (My business office will not send bills.) |
| Southwestern Michigan College | They can hold their classes for a payment of $5.00 per credit (the registration fee) until the first day of the month before the semester starts, i.e., for Winter 2000 from Nov. 1 - Dec. 1, 1999 then 100% of tuition, fees is due. |
| Mott Community College | We have a TMS payment plan(this is an outside company located in Rhode Island) to allow students to pay for 3, 4, or 5 payments for fall and winter semesters. We have a half-payment date for other students of July 12th for fall, with full payment due August 16th. For winter semester, half payment will be due November 15th and full payment due December 13th. Late fees are applied each month for four months after the semester begins (a sliding scale, with $25 a month for balances over $100). |
| Lansing Community College | Any students registering during telephone are given staggered payment due-dates. For example a student registering on July 19 was given a due-date of August 6, etc. This is always a difficult one deciding on when to drop students given that many revisit registration to obtain the same courses again. |
| Macomb Community College | All tuition and fees are payable at the time of registration. |
| St. Clair Community College | April 19 - June 30 Minimum payment of $100.00 required. Final payment due (or deferred payment plan) due by August 5. |
| Delta College | Payment is due at the close of business on the day a student registers |
| Jackson Community College | Fall Semester - students could register without making payment until July 21, 1999. Payment of at least 40% was due on July 29, 1999. |
What registration methods do you offer? (i.e. in-person, touch tone, fax, etc.)
| Montcalm Community College | In-person, by phone (not touch tone yet), by mail, and by fax. Mail, fax, and phone registration are only during the deferred payment registration times. Students may register by these methods later than that but must pay by credit card. |
| Henry Ford Community College | In order of use: In-person, Touch Tone Telephone, Web, Mail, Fax, Operator Telephone. |
| Northwestern Michigan College | In-person, touch tone, and starting in November, Web registration. (no fax) |
| Monroe Community College | Students can register via the
touch tone phone system (SMART) (and pay fees that way also), by regular phone call to our
office, and in person. We will also do a mail registration or fax if we get any. We do not
have web registration yet. If we ever do get it, I'm thinking that many students will
still use the touch tone phone system. Over the span of a year, about 63% of our registrations come through the touch tone phone system. I would like to get than percentage higher, but that's about as high as we can do. |
| Southwestern Michigan College | In-person, by phone (not touch tone) and by mail for continuing ed classes. |
| Mott Community College | Students may register at the windows in the Registration office, with counselors and advisors if they are new or are seeking help with selecting classes, by touch-tone telephone (EPOS), by fax, by mail, or online through the Internet. |
