MACRAO was organized to provide for the
exchange of information concerning issues of interest to its members and to contribute to
the advancement of education in Michigan.
There are three types of membership: institutional, affiliate, and individual.
Affiliate Membership
Affiliate Members encompass any college or organization that provides services to or has established partnerships with
Institutional Members. For example, corporations, non-accredited colleges, tribunal colleges, proprietary schools, vendors
conducting business with institutional members (e.g. SAT, Datatel, Banner EPOS), agencies (Focus Hope), military, out of
state colleges, and automotive educational branches (e.g. Ford and GM). Affiliate members do not have voting rights.
Affiliates are eligible to attend MACRAO sponsored conferences and workshops, receive newsletters and participate in the
MACRAO endorsed College Day/Night programs.

Institutional Membership
Institutional Members consist of college-level degree-granting institutions of higher education in Michigan accredited by
an accrediting association approved by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) (formerly CORPA) and listed in
the Directory of Michigan Institutions of Higher Education. Institutional membership benefits include: voting rights,
listing in the MACRAO College Mall, and participation in the Michigan Transfer Network.

Individual members at a member institution must be employed by the institution.
There is no limit to the number of individual members at a member institution and all individual members may be listed
in the MACRAO online directory.
Individual Membership
Individual membership is designed for individuals no longer affiliated with a MACRAO member institution, who did not
receive honorary membership and graduate students who may have an interest in a career in higher education. Individuals
under this category would receive newsletters and conference information.

Membership Application
MACRAO members are encouraged to participate
by joining a committee (3 year appointment); volunteering to be a presenter or moderator
for a fall conference session, help with local arrangements, work on the newsletter or
help with any number of additional projects. Any member wishing to play an active role in
MACRAO on a committee or in any other capacity should contact the current committee chair
or any member of the executive committee.
As one of our members said: "You learn more about MACRAO and about what's going on in Michigan when you are involved."
So...get involved!
Professional development is an important part
of MACRAO. MACRAO provides several professional development opportunities for the members
throughout the year. However, this all takes hard work and much effort by a dedicated
group of people.
Find a place, and volunteer your time and talents.
Welcome!
